Privacy Policy

We collect the following data when you use our service:

• Email and display name (if you register)
• If you sign in with Google: your name, email address and Google account identifier, used only to create and recognise your account. We never receive your password or any other data from your Google account
• Session data (IP address, user agent)
• Aggregated page views (anonymous)
• A few events on the site, counted anonymously and in aggregate (pages viewed, the choice made in the cookie dialog, timelapse use, steps towards an account and Premium): daily totals only, with no cookie and without storing the IP address or anything else that identifies the visitor

We use the following cookies:

• vw_session: Session cookie (strictly necessary)
• vw_cookie_consent: Stores your cookie preference
• lang: Stores your language preference
• Google Analytics (_ga*): Google Analytics 4 statistics cookies, enabled only with your consent
• Google AdSense: Google AdSense advertising cookies; with consent they enable personalised ads, without consent only non-personalised ads are shown

You can manage or withdraw your consent at any time via the consent banner (managed by Google, TCF 2.2 compliant) or through your browser settings.

Under the GDPR, you have the following rights:

• Right to access your data
• Right to rectification
• Right to erasure
• Right to data portability

Payments. If you buy Premium, the payment is handled by Stripe: we never see or store the card number. We keep the plan bought, the dates, the amount and Stripe's identifier of the payment, to provide the service and to meet accounting and tax duties (legal basis: contract and legal obligation).

Service emails. We write to you about what the account needs: address verification, password, order and withdrawal confirmations, notices about the free period and renewals (legal basis: contract).

News and offers. We send them only if you ticked the box at sign-up (legal basis: consent). You can withdraw it at any time with the link in every email. You also have the right to object to processing and to lodge a complaint with the data protection authority.

We use third-party services: Mapbox (maps), Stripe (payments), Open-Meteo (weather), Google AdSense and Google Analytics (advertising and statistics, with consent), Google (sign-in with Google). Each has its own privacy notice. Data is processed in Switzerland, where the site's server is, and by these providers in the European Union (Ireland) and the United States, with the safeguards the law requires for transfers abroad.

Account data is kept until the account is deleted. Session data is deleted after 30 days. Purchase and payment records are kept for 10 years, as tax law requires. Aggregate statistics are anonymous.
