What can you see from the Bormio 2000 webcam?

Bormio 2000, the mid-station of the Bormio ski area, at almost 2,000 metres: the gondola from the town arrives here and the cable car to Bormio 3000 departs. It is the most useful camera for judging the snow halfway up the mountain.

How do you get up to Bormio 2000?

By gondola from the town, in a few minutes, or by car along the road that climbs from Bormio. In winter the gondola is the normal way to reach the pistes.

Is the image live? How often does it update?

Yes: the page shows the camera's live video, not a photo taken every few minutes. While the camera is running, what you see is this very moment; at night or in fog there is little to see, just as on the spot.

How high is the Bormio ski area?

From the town at 1,225 metres to Cima Bianca at 3,012: about 1,800 metres of height difference, with Bormio 2000 halfway up. From the summit you can ski down to the town in a single descent.

Discover Bormio

On paper, Bormio 2000 is not in Bormio: the slopes of Monte Vallecetta, with the pistes and the lifts, lie in the municipality of Valdisotto. The station, at almost 2,000 metres, is the mountain's middle floor: people coming up from the town decide here whether to stop, carry on towards Cima Bianca or ski back down.

Three lifts leave from Bormio 2000: the cable car to Cima Bianca, in service since 1969, the four-seat chairlift to Cimino and the three-seat one to Pian dei Larici. The whole ski area has 12 lifts and 50 kilometres of pistes: 16 easy, 22 intermediate and 12 difficult. The Stelvio race piste starts higher up, at 2,255 metres.

In summer the station changes trade: the Bormio Bike Park has seven downhill lines, served by the gondola, the Cimino chairlift and the cable car, for a total vertical drop of 1,800 metres. In winter altitude is what counts: at almost 2,000 metres, on mild days, it can rain while it snows at the top, and the image shows it before you go up.
