Good to know
The Comunità montana Alta Valtellina brings together six municipalities: Bormio, its main town, Livigno, Sondalo, Valdidentro, Valdisotto and Valfurva. Bormio lies at 1,225 metres, in a basin from which three roads climb towards the passes: the Stelvio, the Gavia and the Foscagno, for Livigno. The cameras on this page cover Bormio, Livigno, Valdidentro, Valfurva and the passes, from the town square to the 3,012 metres of Cima Bianca.
If you are heading for Livigno, the cameras are lined up along state road 301, which is about 37 kilometres long: Isolaccia, Semogo, the Foscagno at 2,291 metres, then the descent to Trepalle, the climb back up to the Eira at 2,208 and finally the Livigno basin, at 1,816. Looking at them in order tells you where the snow begins. The same goes for Valfurva: San Nicolò at 1,321 metres, Santa Caterina about 400 metres higher, at the foot of the Gavia road, which is usually open from June to October.
The altitudes explain the rest. The Stelvio, at 2,758 metres, closes every winter and usually reopens in late May; the Forcola, towards Switzerland, is usually open from the first week of June to the last Friday of November; the Foscagno and the Eira stay open all year. Valfurva and the Stelvio area are in the Stelvio National Park, established in 1935, and in 2026 Bormio and Livigno were venues of the Milano Cortina Games. The webcams show the roads, they do not certify that they are open. See the webcams of Bormio, Livigno, Valdidentro and Valfurva, the alpine passes or the map.
