This webcam, in brief

How the camera works and what to expect from the images.

What can you see from the Aprica webcam?

The village of Aprica and, beyond the rooftops, the pistes of the ski area, on the pass at 1,181 metres. It is the camera to watch for snow and visibility on the pistes of the middle Valtellina.

Is there snow in Aprica now?

Reading of 8 October 2026 at 20:06 (local time): it is not snowing and no snow is forecast for the next 24 hours. Snow on the ground is not measured: the picture shows it. The village sits at 1,181 metres and the pistes climb to about 2,300: snow on the pistes usually holds from December to March, helped by snowmaking. The webcam shows it in real time.

Is the Aprica Pass open in winter?

Yes, the Aprica Pass (1,181 m) stays open all year and is the normal route between Valtellina and Val Camonica; the nearby Mortirolo, by contrast, closes in winter.

What are Aprica's ski areas?

Four, linked to one another: Magnolta, Palabione, Baradello, with the floodlit Superpanoramica, and the Campetti for those learning. About 50 kilometres of pistes in all.

Is the image live? How often does it update?

When the camera is running, the image updates automatically every few minutes during daylight hours. The time of the latest snapshot is shown on the page, and the timelapse plays back the hours before.

Discover Aprica

Aprica is built on a flat saddle about three kilometres long, between the Orobie and the Rhaetian Alps. The village takes up much of the pass and straddles two basins: Valtellina on one side, Val Camonica on the other. The SS 39 runs through it and links Tresenda to Edolo in 29 kilometres.

For centuries Aprica was a hamlet of Teglio, which lies on the opposite side of Valtellina. In the San Pietro quarter, originally called Ospitale, there was already a hospice in the Middle Ages for wayfarers, soldiers and pilgrims. After a brief spell between 1816 and 1823, a separate municipality was requested in 1871 and again in 1879, and came in 1923. There are six quarters, and at the end of February their bell-ringers gather for Sunà da Mars, the cowbell rite that calls in the spring.

On the pistes, the Magnolta drops for two kilometres with a 500-metre vertical, and snowmaking covers 80 per cent of the ski area. In summer people head for Pian di Gembro, about five kilometres from the village at 1,350 metres: a peat bog formed in the last ice age, a nature reserve since 1988, where carnivorous plants such as the sundew grow and where there is cross-country skiing in winter.
