This webcam, in brief
How the camera works and what to expect from the images.
What can I see on the Malghera webcam?
The webcam is at the Malghera mountain hut, at 1,964 m in western Val Grosina. You see the stone huts of the alp with their stone-slab roofs, the meadow with its dry-stone walls and the flagpole, and behind them the larch slopes and peaks of the valley. In winter a graduated pole on a wall measures the snow.
Is the image live? How often does it update?
When the camera is running, the image updates automatically every few minutes during daylight hours. The time of the latest snapshot is shown on the page, and the timelapse plays back the hours before.

Discover Malghera
Malghera is a farming hamlet at 1,964 metres in western Val Grosina, the branch also known as Val di Sacco. The huts have been restored without losing their rural character, and in summer the alp is still at work: grazing, haymaking, cowsheds and dairies where the milk is processed.
Beside the huts stands the sanctuary of the Madonna del Muschio, also called Madonna della Misericordia, built in 1888 and completed in 1919; the mountain hut was founded in the early 1900s along with the church and was originally called 'Case della Chiesa', the church houses. The alp's year is marked by its feasts: the pilgrimage on foot on the last Sunday of May, the opening of the alp in early June, the Assumption on 15 August and the closing on the second Sunday of October.
From the hut, path 253 leads in an hour to Lago di Malghera, at 2,316 metres, and in an hour and three quarters to the Malghera Pass, at 2,542 metres, from which you descend into Val Poschiavo. The peaks around include Pizzo Matto, 2,993 metres, and Vetta Sperella, 3,075.
When there is snow, the graduated pole beside the hut shows how many centimetres lie at the alp. See also the Valtellina webcams, the Grosio webcams, Tirano, Poschiavo beyond the pass and the map.
