High-altitude panorama webcams

9 webcams in this collection

The highest webcams on the site: from Bormio 2000 to the 3,012 metres of Cima Bianca, by way of the Stelvio, Bernina and Livigno passes. For anyone looking for the view from up high, the first snow or the sun above the clouds.

At a glance

Bormio 3000, Cima Bianca (3,012 m)
The top station of the cable car, the highest point of the Bormio slopes; from up here you look out at the Ortles-Cevedale group.
Stelvio Pass (2,758 m)
The pass and the mountains around it, on the second-highest paved road pass in the Alps.
Stelvio, glacier (2,758 to 3,450 m)
The summer ski slopes above the pass: you can see whether they are white or whether the ice is showing through.
Bernina Pass (2,328 m)
The pass between Valposchiavo and the Engadine, in the Lago Bianco area.
Forcola di Livigno (2,315 m)
The barrier at the pass on the border between Livigno and Switzerland, with the road and the slopes around it.
Foscagno Pass (2,291 m)
The customs pass, on the road that climbs from Bormio to Livigno.
Eira Pass (2,208 m)
The saddle above Trepalle, the last pass before Livigno.
Ofen Pass, from Minschuns (about 2,400 m)
Piz Daint and Piz Dora, two peaks of almost 3,000 metres above Val Müstair.
Bormio 2000 (almost 2,000 m)
The mid-station of the Bormio slopes, where the gondola from the town arrives.

Good to know

The higher the camera, the more it tells you. At these altitudes the weather is not the weather of the valley floor: on the Stelvio, at 2,758 metres, it can snow in any month of the year, and between the square in Bormio and Cima Bianca there are almost 1,800 metres of height difference, enough for the town to be under the clouds and the summit in the sun, or the other way round. The cameras on this page all look at places above 1,900 metres.

From Cima Bianca you look out at the Ortles-Cevedale group, with the Ortles at 3,905 metres and the Cevedale at 3,769: these are mountains of the Stelvio National Park. The passes are also watersheds. On the Bernina and the Forcola di Livigno the water on one side runs down towards the Adda, the Po and the Adriatic, on the other towards the Inn, the Danube and the Black Sea. The Ofen Pass camera is the exception: it is not at the pass but at Minschuns, about 2,400 metres up above Tschierv, and looks at Piz Daint and Piz Dora.

Up high, wind and fog can cover the lens. The image is updated every few minutes during daylight hours, and the time of the last shot is always shown. If you have to drive, the view is not enough: the usual season of each pass is on the alpine passes page. See also the ski slopes, the webcams of the Stelvio Pass, Bormio and Val Müstair or the map.

Frequently asked questions

Which is the highest webcam?

Bormio 3000, at the top station of the Cima Bianca cable car, at 3,012 metres. The Stelvio glacier camera looks at slopes that climb from 2,758 to about 3,450 metres.

Is there snow up high right now?

The webcams show it, with the time of the shot. At 3,012 metres snow usually arrives early in autumn and stays until well into spring; on the Stelvio Pass it can fall in any month of the year.

What can you see on the Bormio 3000 webcam?

The top station of the cable car at Cima Bianca, 3,012 metres above Alta Valtellina. It is the camera to check for snow up high and for visibility above the clouds.

Why is the image sometimes all white or grey?

At these altitudes wind and fog can cover the lens. The time of the last shot is shown on the page: if it is recent, the weather up there is what you see.

Which is the highest pass with a webcam?

The Stelvio Pass, at 2,758 metres: it is the second-highest paved road pass in the Alps. Next come the Bernina (2,328 m), the Forcola di Livigno (2,315 m), the Foscagno (2,291 m) and the Eira (2,208 m).
