This webcam, in brief
How the camera works and what to expect from the images.
What can I see on the Cerreto Laghi webcam?
The webcam is on the shore of Lago Cerretano, at 1,345 m, and looks south-south-west. Across the water you see the lift base with its buildings and two pistes cut through the beech wood: Pista Due on the left and Pista Uno on the right. When the sky is clear, the crest of Monte La Nuda shows at top left.
Is the image live? How often does it update?
When the camera is running, the image updates automatically every few minutes during daylight hours. The time of the latest snapshot is shown on the page, and the timelapse plays back the hours before.
Where is Cerreto Laghi and how do I get there?
Cerreto Laghi is a hamlet of Ventasso, in the province of Reggio Emilia, inside the Tuscan-Emilian Apennine National Park. You reach it from state road 63, which links Reggio Emilia with Aulla over the Cerreto Pass (1,261 m): from the pass, provincial road 58 climbs to the village in a few kilometres.
Discover Cerreto Laghi
Cerreto Laghi grew up around Lago Cerretano, in a hollow at the foot of Monte La Nuda. The first tourist facilities date from the 1950s; today the village sits at about 1,345 metres, among the beeches, just below the ridge that divides Emilia from Tuscany.
On the shore facing the camera is the base of the four-seat chairlift that climbs to La Piella; from there a second chairlift, with three seats, was built towards the top of Monte La Nuda, at almost 1,900 metres. The pistes have plain names: Zero, Uno, Due and Tre. Beside the lift base is the nursery slope, with a magic carpet for beginners.
In summer this is walking country. The Orange Trail sets off from the Piazzale del Lago, a round of a couple of hours through the beech woods that links the main lakes: it is one of ten marked routes around the village, from forty minutes to about four hours. On the provincial road, at the edge of the village, there is also an ice rink.
The Cerreto Pass, at 1,261 metres, is a few kilometres away: state road 63 crosses it between the province of Reggio Emilia and that of Massa-Carrara. Before you drive up from either side, the picture shows whether the snow has come down to the lakeshore.
