This webcam, in brief

How the camera works and what to expect from the images.

What can I see on the Tremezzo webcam?

The webcam is on the shore at Tremezzo, a few metres above the water, and looks east and south-east across the centre of Lake Como: on the left, on the far shore, Bellagio at the foot of its wooded headland, behind it the pale rock faces of the Grigne, on the right the coast of the Larian Triangle. There is no webcam in Bellagio on this site: you see it from here, across the water.

Is the image live? How often does it update?

When the camera is running, the image updates automatically every few minutes during daylight hours. The time of the latest snapshot is shown on the page, and the timelapse plays back the hours before.

Where is Tremezzo and how do I get there?

Tremezzo is on the western shore of Lake Como, in the province of Como, in the municipality of Tremezzina, about 30 km from Como along the SS 340 Regina road. There is no railway: you arrive by car, by bus from Como or by boat, which calls at the village. From nearby Cadenabbia the ferry crosses to Bellagio and Varenna.

Discover Tremezzo

Off Tremezzo, Lake Como is wider than anywhere else: more than four kilometres between Cadenabbia, just north of the village, and Fiumelatte on the opposite shore. It is here, around the tip of Bellagio, that the three branches of the lake meet. That is why the wind is easy to read from the shore: the Tivano in the early morning, from the north, and the Breva, which gets up from the south as the Tivano drops, between late morning and early afternoon.

The village, about 1,300 inhabitants, has been part of the municipality of Tremezzina since 2014, together with Lenno, Mezzegra and Ossuccio. Villas and hotels line the Regina road. The best known is Villa Carlotta, built at the end of the seventeenth century for Marquis Giorgio Clerici: in 1801 it was bought by Gian Battista Sommariva, who filled it with sculptures by Canova and Thorvaldsen, and today it is a museum with a botanical garden. The Art Nouveau Grand Hotel Tremezzo opened in 1910.

From the village the boats run towards Como and towards the upper lake; from Cadenabbia the ferry crosses to Bellagio and Varenna, cars included. On foot, the Greenway del Lago di Como passes through: about 10 kilometres from Colonno to Cadenabbia, in the tracks of the ancient Via Regina.
